Memorable Moment

I was fortunate to attend one of the few dental assisting programs that offer a coordinated internship program with a four-year college/university. 

I was fortunate to attend one of the few dental assisting programs that offer a coordinated internship with a four-year college or university. During my internship, I had the opportunity to assist with various procedures, including restorations, fillings, extractions, and root canals. 

It was a unique and rewarding experience to intern alongside fellow dental career students, such as dentists and hygienists. We were supported by a wonderful internship coordinator who has been working with dental hygiene and assistant students for many years—long before many of us were even born! 

As a former dental assistant, she understood the specific challenges we face in this field and has acted as a "mother hen" to all of us. She provided valuable advice and ensured that each of us felt comfortable and informed as we transitioned into a new environment and career.

On the last day of the internship program, my classmates and I wanted to express our gratitude, so we surprised her with a small gesture of appreciation. It was the least we could do for someone so dedicated and kind.
